Privacy Policy
This page says what ToonChatter collects, what we do with it, and how to get rid of it. Plain language, no tricks.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address, the name you choose, a password (stored scrambled — we can't read it), your birth year, and the date you agreed to the terms.
- Your photos: the selfies you upload to make your character.
- Your comics: the panels, words, speech balloons and covers you make, and who is in each story.
- Basic logs: the time of each picture we draw for you, and ordinary server logs (such as your internet address) kept for a short time to keep the site running and safe.
We don't collect your location, your contacts, or anything from your phone beyond what you upload.
What we do with it
- We use your email to log you in and to contact you about your account. We don't send marketing email unless you ask for it.
- We send your photo and your description to an outside AI drawing service (currently OpenAI) to draw your character and your panels. That is the only reason your photo leaves our server. OpenAI's own privacy rules apply to what they receive; under their business terms they do not use it to train their models.
- We show your comics to the people in your stories. A public story is shown to anyone who opens its link.
- When we sell credits, payments will be handled by a payment company (such as Stripe). They receive your card details; we don't.
We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.
Cookies
We use one cookie, to keep you logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no ad networks.
Where it's kept
On our server in the United States. We keep it as long as you have an account.
Deleting your information
Delete your account from your account settings, or email us. We remove your account, your photos and your own panels. Panels you made in a shared story may stay in that story for the other members, and copies you or others saved to a phone are outside our control.
Children
ToonChatter is for adults 18 and over, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll show a notice in the app.
